Strive to Work for Perfection

Gospel
Matthew 19:16-22

Reading

“If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” - Matthew 19:21

Revelation

Perfection is not about having all the material things in the world but it is all about having the Giver of all these things. The more you give, most especially to the poor, the more you will receive great and everlasting treasures. Hold tight to the Lord and follow Him wherever He leads you and all these things shall be added unto you in great measures.

Reflection

Perfection is never measured by the abundance of what we possess but by the depth of our relationship with the Giver Himself.

Material blessings come and go, but the heart that clings to Christ—trusting Him, following Him, and sharing generously—receives treasures that cannot be lost. Every act of giving, especially to those who have less, becomes a doorway through which God pours out grace in greater measure.

When you hold tightly to the Lord, He leads you to places where His provision, His peace, and His purpose overflow. What He adds to your life is always more than what you could ever gain on your own.

Response

Lord Jesus Christ,

You are the source of every good and perfect gift. Teach my heart to desire You above all things. Free me from the illusion that perfection comes from possessions, and anchor my soul in Your love alone.

Make me generous, especially toward the poor, so that my life becomes a channel of Your compassion. Lead me wherever You desire, and give me the courage to follow You without hesitation. Add to my life in You only what brings me closer to You, and remove whatever keeps me from Your will. May the treasures I seek be the ones that last forever—faith, hope, love, and the joy of walking with You each day.

Amen.
