Let Go and Let God

Gospel
John 20:1-2, 11-18

Reading

“Stop holding on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” - John 20:17

Revelation

Do not hold on to the past but instead push forward to see the power and glory of the Lord. Stop holding on to your negative and depressing experiences of the past but rather go and move forward in accomplishing the good works that the Lord had instructed you to do. Always put God first as you begin your day and you shall see the power and glory of the Lord unfold before your very eyes. Today, the Lord is instructing you to make and finish your reports.

Reflection

Mary Magdalene came to the tomb carrying sorrow, fear, and memories of loss. She clung to what she knew, to what was familiar — until Jesus called her by name and invited her into a new mission. She had to release her grief, her assumptions, her past… so she could step into the purpose God was giving her.

Jesus’ words, “Stop holding on to Me” , were not rejection — they were direction. A gentle push forward. A commissioning. Today’s message to you mirrors that moment, do not hold on to the past nor cling to negative or depressing experiences. Instead, move forward into the good works God has instructed you to do. Begin your day with God, and you will see His power and glory unfold.

Just as Mary was told, “Go to My brothers and tell them…” , you too are being told: Go. Move. Act. Complete what God has placed in your hands — including your reports today. Your work is not merely a task; it is obedience. It is worship. It is your offering for this day.

Response

Lord Jesus Christ,

You call me, just as You called Mary in the quiet of the morning. You speak my name with love, with purpose, with direction. Today, You ask me to let go — to release the weight of yesterday, to stop clinging to the pains, failures, and fears that hold me back.

Risen Lord, Teach me to step forward with courage. Clear my mind from discouragement, lift my heart from heaviness, and fix my eyes on the work You have entrusted to me. As Mary moved from tears to mission, move me from hesitation to obedience. Let Your power unfold as I begin my day with You. Bless my hands as I make and finish my reports. Let this work be done with excellence, with joy, and with the strength that comes from Your Spirit. I surrender my past. I embrace Your purpose. I walk forward in Your glory.

Amen.
