Ask and You will Receive

Gospel
John 16:23-28

READING

“Until now you have not asked anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete." (John 16:24)

REVELATION

This is a moment when the Lord Jesus opens your heart to a simple but life changing truth: the Father delights when you ask Him for anything in Jesus’ Name. Asking is not weakness; it is worship. It is the humble confession that God is the source of every blessing, and that apart from Him, you can do nothing.

Jesus reminds you that there are still many things in life you do not know, understand, or see. But He does not leave you wandering. He invites you to come to Him—the Author of Life, the Way, the Truth, and the Life—and ask boldly, confidently, and without shame.

Your needs do not burden God. Your questions do not irritate Him. Your desires do not surprise Him. He simply says: Ask.  Ask in Jesus’ Name, and the Father will give it to you so that your joy may be full.

REFLECTION

How many blessings have been delayed simply because you hesitated to ask? How many answers remained unopened because you feared you were asking too much?

Jesus is teaching you today that asking is an act of faith. It is the doorway to deeper intimacy with Him. It is the posture of a child who trusts the Father’s heart. When you ask in Jesus’ Name, you are not relying on your worthiness—you are relying on His. You are not depending on your strength—you are depending on His. You are not claiming your own goodness—you are standing on His finished work.

Let this truth settle in your spirit: God is not reluctant. God is ready. God is generous. God is your Father. So ask—not timidly, but boldly. Ask—not with fear, but with faith. Ask—not because you deserve it, but because Jesus made the way for you.

RESPONSE

Lord Jesus Christ, my Savior and my God,

I come before You today with a heart that longs for Your presence and Your promises. You have said that if I ask anything in Your Name, the Father will give it to me. So here I am, Lord—asking, seeking, knocking—because I believe in Your word.

Teach me never to be ashamed to ask. Remove every fear, doubt, and hesitation in my heart. Let me always remember that every blessing, every grace, every good thing comes from the Father through You. Open my mind to the things I still need to learn. Open my heart to the things I still need to surrender. Open my life to the things You still desire to give.

Lord Jesus, I ask for Your wisdom, Your guidance, Your protection, Your provision, and Your overflowing grace. Make my joy complete as I trust in You alone. I place my needs, my desires, my dreams, and my whole life in Your hands. Let everything be done according to the will of the Father,
in Your most powerful and holy Name.

Amen.
