Gospel
Matthew 16:13-19
Reading
When Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” (Matthew 16:13)
Revelation
Jesus is the heart that God the Father has placed within you. He made you solid as a rock so that in you, He can build His church. Nothing can ever prevail against on what the Lord had built. Two distinct qualities of leadership is identity and responsibility. When the Lord anoints you for a specific purpose, He gives you these two qualities. Today, He gives you the authority to administer the works at hand with proper and good governance. Always stand for what is good and true, just and right.
Reflection
Jesus is the heart placed within you by the Father, and on that heart—solid as a rock—He builds His Church. This truth echoes the very foundation Jesus proclaimed: “Upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.”
What God builds in you is not fragile. It is not temporary. It is not dependent on human approval. It is anchored in Christ Himself—the Cornerstone and the Rock of salvation.
Identity grounds you in who you are in Christ; responsibility empowers you to carry out what He entrusts to you. This mirrors the pattern seen throughout Scripture: God calls, God equips, and God establishes. Even when you felt unable to build your own life, He brought you into His Church and gave you a role in building His house.
And today, He strengthens your hands again. He gives you authority—not for dominance, but for stewardship. Not for control, but for governance rooted in truth, justice, and goodness. This is leadership shaped by Christ’s own heart.
Response
Lord Jesus Christ,
You are the Rock on which my life stands firm. You are the heart the Father has placed within me, the strength that steadies my steps, and the foundation of every good work You entrust to my hands.
Thank You for calling me into Your Church, even when I felt unworthy and unable. Thank You for giving me identity rooted in Your love and responsibility shaped by Your wisdom. As You build Your house in me, let nothing prevail against what You have established.
Today, I receive the authority You give—not for my glory, but for Your governance. Make my decisions just, my actions true, and my leadership aligned with Your will. Let every work of my hands be guided by Your Spirit, who dwells within me and makes me Your temple.
Strengthen me to stand for what is good and right. Keep my heart pure, my mind clear, and my spirit steadfast. Build in me a foundation that no storm can shake, for You alone are my everlasting Rock.
All glory and honor are Yours, now and forever!
Amen.
